Artistic Brilliance: The Power of Visual Storytelling
1. Vibrant Illustrations:
At the heart of Sabrina Haun’s series lies a visual feast for young readers. The illustrations are a kaleidoscope of colors, capturing the essence of each concept presented in the books. From the vivid hues of nature to the delightful expressions on characters’ faces, every page radiates with visual appeal. And best of all – it is all from famous art and world renowned artists.
2. Simple Early Learning Concepts:
The concept at the heart of the books is simple – each page has a single concept on one side. A letter, a number or an animal in our example. And on the other side is a famous piece of artwork with that concept or representing that concept.
3. Great Interactivity
The art in the books are so vibrant and memorable that it drives significant interactivity between the adult reader and the child. For example – V is for Vase has the initial phrase in big, clear letters, then some descriptive text and then the famous Vase of Flowers, 1916 by Odilon Redon. There is even a prompt asking how one would describe the vase.
4. Look and Feel
These books look and feel fantastic. They feel like… real Art Books, with heavy cardboard bindings and colorful designs. They look fantastic in a playroom bookshelf and are quite eye-catching.
Parental Engagement: Fostering a Shared Reading Experience
1. Read-Aloud Potential:
The rhythmic flow and engaging narratives of Sabrina Haun’s board books make them ideal for read-aloud sessions. The shared reading experience between parents and children not only strengthens the parent-child bond but also enhances language acquisition and comprehension skills.
2. Discussion Prompts:
The themes explored in the series provide excellent opportunities for meaningful discussions between parents and children. Whether it’s talking about the changing seasons, identifying colors in the environment, or discussing emotions, these books serve as conversation starters that go beyond the pages.
3. Extension Activities:
The interactive elements within the books inspire extension activities that parents can explore with their children. From creating art projects related to the stories to engaging in hands-on experiments, these activities foster a deeper connection to the concepts introduced in the books.
